The direct answer
There is no fixed number of labels on a 200 mm reel. The count follows the label pitch and the thickness of the web your label supplier uses, so two labels of the same width can give very different reel counts.
The two inputs that set the count
Pitch. Pitch is the label length plus the gap to the next label, measured along the web. A 25 mm pitch means one label every 25 mm. A 10 mm gap instead of a 4 mm gap cuts the count without changing the label itself, because the gap consumes reel length without carrying a label.
Web thickness. This is the label, its backing and the adhesive, measured through the wound roll. Thicker material means fewer turns fit between the bore and the outer diameter, so the same reel holds less running length. Your label supplier knows both numbers already — they are set when the label is quoted.
How the calculation works
The wound web fills the ring between the reel bore and the outer diameter. With the published reel dimensions — 200 mm outer diameter and a 76.2 mm bore — that ring is about 26,855 mm². One label occupies a cross-section of thickness × pitch, so:
labels ≈ ring area ÷ (web thickness × pitch)
Worked example, using assumed inputs — these are not BestFeeder specifications: a pitch of 25 mm and a web thickness of 0.15 mm give a cross-section of 0.15 × 25 = 3.75 mm². 26,855 ÷ 3.75 ≈ 7,160 labels. Change the assumptions and the answer moves: a 0.2 mm web at a 40 mm pitch gives roughly 3,360 on the same reel. Treat these figures as arithmetic, not as a product figure — the pitch and thickness on your own label decide the real count. The ring also assumes the web is wound tight from the bore to the outer diameter, so read the result as a ceiling: a real reel has a core and a slightly loose wind, and your supplier’s own calculation is the accurate one.
The feeder does not set this number
A label feeder sets where and how the label is presented: the pickup position, the feeding cycle and the stripping method. It does not set how much material the label supplier winds onto the reel.
